About me

I’ve been reading and telling stories my entire life. Fantasy, horror, and Victorian literature shaped me about I’d say equally. I’ve written a number of stories and books but it took until middle age for me to realize that if I want to be an author when I grow up, I better get started.

Here’s a short list of how I’ve spent my time instead of trying to get published: I’ve been a waitress, a cheesemonger, a solar energy consultant, a dog whisperer, a marketing director, a reader of poetry to retired blind professors (okay, just one), an academic editor, a horse handler (okay, mostly a horse stall mucker), a community sustainability advocate, an antique home caretaker, a traveler, a passionate cook, a reluctant gardener, a besotted aunt.

I live on the extraordinarily beautiful North Shore of Boston, not far from where I grew up though quite far from where I was born in eastern Kentucky, and hang out with a lot of dogs.

My dearest hope is that one day one person will read one thing I’ve written and see the world in a slightly different way because of it. Maybe fall a bit more in love with it. Maybe see just an iota more clearly what humanity can be, rather than what we’ve been told it is.
